In 1998 a new show surfaced on television, a show that featured four very different characters that would soon become a style icon for women right around the world and too many people became their favorite show of all time.
While many women claim watching ‘Sex & The City’ changed their lives how did the show go about changing the lives of the actresses who played Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda.
Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw) – Despite the networks saying otherwise Sarah Jessica Parker was the star of both the ‘Sex & The City’ television series and the two movies that followed it. Before appearing in the hit series Parker had begun her career by appearing in a number of little known television shows and feature films. She had also featured in movies like ‘Footloose’, ‘Hocus Pocus’, ‘Ed Wood’, ‘The First Wives Club’ and ‘Mars Attack’.
Starring as Carrie Bradshaw made Parker so popular that she became Hollywood’s ‘it’ girl and as a result she has starred in blockbuster romantic comedies such as ‘Failure To Launch’, ‘Did You Hear About The Morgans?’, ‘I Don’t Know How She Does It’ and ‘New Year’s Eve’. She has even appeared in the hit series ‘Glee’.

She had been in the industry since 1975 and had appeared in popular television shows like ‘Columbo’, ‘Starsky & Hutch’, ‘The Night Rider’ and ‘Charlie’s Angels’. Aside from making a sting of B-Grade movies she had also made a name for herself as a sex symbol in ‘Porky’s’ and the ‘Police Academy’ franchise of films.
Since playing Samantha the cougar Cattrall has appeared in movies like ‘Crossroads’ (with Britney Spears) and ‘The Ghost Writer’ as well as returning to the little screen in ‘Any Human Heart’ and ‘Producing Parker’.
Kristin Davis (Charlotte York) – While Kristen Davis may have had one of the thinnest Resumes of the ‘Sex & The City’ cast she was in fact most likely the one that was best prepared for the roller-coaster ride that is starring on a hit television series. While she started her career in shows like ‘General Hospital’, ‘Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman’, ‘E.R.’ and ‘Seinfeld’ she rose to stardom playing Brooke Armstrong in the extremely popular ‘Melrose Place’.
