2013 is currently looking to be a big year for the world of video games. On the heels of a successful 2012 which saw new installments into the Call Of Duty and the Halo franchises, 2013 as a whole is currently looking to be one of the biggest in recent memory for the world of console RPG games. With recent announcements that a new Legend of Zelda title is in development for the Wii U for release in 2014 not to mention, Dark Souls II also in development for 2014, it seems that the next few years could be massive for console RPG gaming. Here are some of the most exciting RPG games that are set to be released in 2013.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch

As a production of Studio Ghibli, the company behind such classic Japanese anime films as “Spirited Away” and “Ponyo”, the company lends their amazing artwork to the world of video gaming in this brilliant RPG. While the game has already seen its release in Japan, the game is set to be ported over to the PS3 console in the United States in early 2013. Featuring an innovative battle system, truly awe inspiring scenery and flawless use of imagination, Wrath of the White Witch will likely go down as a timeless cult-classic RPG for the 2013 year, and indeed, one of the most beautiful that has been seen in a long time.

Tales Of Xillia

The iconic “Tales” series returns once again in 2013 with “Tales of Xillia”. On the heels of the recent successes of other Tales titles as “Tales Of Graces F” and “Tales Of Vesperia”, Xillia appears in the Western world with a brand new unique and innovative storyline, some truly perfect visuals and as ever, the classic real-time battle system that contributes so much to the games immersive nature. Expect huge worlds, vast, vibrant cities and amazing character development as always. For any classic RPG fan looking for something authentic and vintage, Xillia is something to look forward to. The game will be released at some point in 2013.

The Dark Eye: Demonicon

For those who have been longing for a classic, old-school dark fantasy RPG game, “The Dark Eye: Demonicon” could be exactly what you have been waiting for. The game, which will see its release in 2013, is based on a pen and paper RPG from the 1980’s. With a huge world, a conventional dark fantasy RPG storyline and, from what has been seen thus far online, some truly awe inspiring visuals and gameplay, “Demonicon” could be the dose of classic dark fantasy that the gaming world has been longing for.

With countless new games set to be released in 2013 including, potentially, “Call Of Duty: modern Warfare 4”, “WWE 14”, not to mention, the already confirmed releases such as “Grand Theft Auto V”, “The Last Of Us”, “Dragon Age 3”, “Tomb Raider” and “Metal Gear Solid: Revengeance”, the 2013 year of gaming is definitely going to be nothing short of huge and potentially world changing. For any RPG fans looking for games to tide them over throughout the year, the aforementioned three titles are certainly some of the most impressive and thus far, some of the most awe inspiring RPG games of the 2013 year.
