It is generally accepted that no matter what size you actually are, you want to look slim or at the very least, slimmer than you actually are or feel. There are quite a few things that you can do that do not involve any severe dieting that can make you look slim in the clothes that you wear. Dressing is as much about creating an illusion as it is about the clothes that you actually choose.
Fit
Fit is the most important factor when it comes to clothing. Many women are under the mistaken impression that wearing clothes that are a size or two too big makes them look slim. The exact opposite is the reality. Wearing oversized clothing makes you look larger. Wearing clothes that are too tight is not a good idea either, especially if you have any figure flaws at all. Clothes need to fit properly. The length needs to be flattering, the shoulders need to line up and the buttons should close without any pull or sag. If your clothes don’t fit properly, find a tailor who can do the needed size adjustments for you.
Undergarments
One much-overlooked area of women’s clothing are undergarments. You will look much slimmer if your bra fits correctly. Ill-fitting bras are one of the main complaints that women have. It is hard to look slim when parts of your anatomy are bulging out here and there. It is well worth going to a specialty shop or a large department store which offers a bra fitting service. Most women are amazed to find out their correct size. You may be off by several cups or bra sizes. Another important part of the correct underwear is the panties. A visible panty line will not make you look slim. Another very easy way to look slim is with Spanx. Ask most Hollywood stars -- they never leave home without them. They give your body a sleek look, and a sleek makes you look slim, not to mention attractive.
