The American Medical Association(AMA), the group that maintains heroin addiction by prescribing the morphine opiate to people of all ages with all types of physical health problems, is the group that over-prescribes, and allows the over-prescription of, ADHD and ADD medications. By the AMA's own statements, only 2-3 percent of the population of the planet has ADD or ADHD.
Some scientists speculate that ADHD is simply a hormonal process that humans have yet to evolve past. If you've ever played with kittens or puppies, you know that they are rambunctious and playful; especially when it is inappropriate. This is how mammals are, we want to learn about our environs from the situations we can attain within those environs. Structured living is a relatively new step in human activity. Structured education has only been around since the days of Socrates, and it wasn't particularly popular until only five hundred years ago. Public schools didn't exist until eighteenth century Prussia.
Forcing an animal to behave in a non-animal way always leads to rebellion. A friend I know had a puppy which, if you tried to scold it, would go out to the yard, get feces into its mouth and then gently clamp onto your arm. Should that dog be on ADHD medication?
According to a 2004 study in France of 53 children with ADHD, versus a control group which had not been diagnosed ADHD, the findings were that a simple iron deficiency was the only difference. Once treated with iron supplements, a large portion of the study group became less hyper and more attentive. This means that some children with various forms of anemia might be improperly diagnosed and prescribed amphetamines, which can seriously be detrimental to a growing brain.
It has been found, from the Ritalin kids of the eighties, that children who grow up on a regiment of amphetamines are many times more likely than their peer counterparts to develop a drug dependency later in life. The AMA knows this and ignores it. Nearly 25% OF America's children are diagnosed with ADHD, even though the American Medical Association's numbers declare that impossible.
The American Medical Association gets government grant money for every addict they "cure" in AMA rehabilitation centers. I worked as an editor for a recovering drug addict who had serious health problems. On one instance, I was with him in the hospital and the nurses would come in, whether he was in pain or not, and pump him full of morphine. One nurse lovingly called the doses her "put up or shut up."
The AMA is out to get money. They are out to build a world of drug addicts they can continually recycle through their programs for government funding. The Hippocratic Oath doesn't seem to mean anything anymore. Your children are the future of the abattoir of addiction.
The only real difference between ADHD medication and methamphetamine is that one is more likely to blow up during manufacture because of unclean environments. According the American Medical Association, methamphetamine is the most addictive substance on the planet and the strongest, longest lasting drug known to man. But it's safe for your children. There seems to be some kind of conflict here.

"Generation Med" is a pretty harsh title to own up to. Is it really all that fair? Maybe society is being a little harsh.
