Absolutely not; America is still not ready to have a President belonging to many kinds of "normal" heterosexual persons like women, Hispanic, Black, Italians, generally whoever has not White Anglo-Saxon and Christian (Protestant or, maximum, Catholic) origins culture; so, it would be really "out of this world" to think that Americans could elect an openly gay President.
They want that their President is a "true man", able, when necessary, to practice oral or "written" sex in his White House office ONLY with a woman or, however, with a person of the opposite sex (if we consider also a possible woman President), like Bill Clinton or to be unfaithful to his wife ONLY with other women, like J. F. Kennedy.
Do you imagine if, at the place of Monica Lewinsky, there were been a male university student? What a scandal! What a perversion! Bill the "gay" would have been impeached out of his charge just the following day, while his poor wife Hillary and his daughter Chelsea would have committed suicide, for the shame!
Surely, not all the gays are "pleasant" to everybody, especially those who are somewhat effeminate and loving to dress like women; but also judging the modest, very modest political, cultural and human average quality of the last Presidents, elected only for their money, winning image on TV, rhetoric promises and lobby bindings, I think that also among the gay community it could be rather easy to find an intelligent, competent and honest person, able to be a better President.
This, also considering that U.S.A., like every other Countries, can't be governed by its President with his/her sexual relations or preferences.
