We play as often as time, work, and family will allow. Rook can also be fun with large groups at Christmas, Thanksgiving, family reunions, etc. You can have each person draw a card and the highest four cards drawn are up to play. The two highest cards will be partners and then the next two highest. If two or more people end up with the same high card those people draw another card. This is a great way not to make anyone mad when choosing partners. The cards choose who you will have in place of you having to voice an opinion. The game is played like above until one team loses. When a team loses they must leave their seats and allow the next two people with highest numbers the chance to beat their old competitors.
Rook has many variations of game play. The variations can alter the cards in the game, the amount of players who can play the game at once, etc. The game once played out is very similar to the game invented back all those years ago by a husband and wife couple known as George and Grace. Rook still offers players hours of enjoyment and family time. I am sure Grace and George would have been proud to know that thier game invention now produced by Parker Brothers expeienced their 100 year anniversary back in 2006. If it was the dream of George and Grace to have their game enjoyed for centuries by many families then they have a dream come true. Rook is still being enjoyed today in the current year 2008. I intend to pass this wonderful game on to my son as I am sure many more families intend to do so I belive Rook will not only outlive George and Grace its creator but also me and many more individual players.
