The most stylish cities around the world

There is always a poll for everything these days and of course there is one for the most stylish cities of the world. Style is a matter of taste and is a relative term in my opinion. One man's haute couture is another man's idea of snobbish dress. In this poll there were 26 million responses from all over the world between the ages of 18 and 64. Global Market Insite's researchers have published the ratings and here are the top five:

1. Sydney
2. London
3. Paris
4. Rome
5. New York

These were followed by Washington, San Francisco, Melbourne, Barcelona and Geneva. Interesting results I might say, because none of the above would get on my list, as great as they all are to visit. Stylish is a personal choice even though there are societal definitions accepted by the masses. I would call Austin,TX a stylish city in that it reflects Texas culture to the max and does it with style. It is a fun city, tons of restaurants and haute shops if one wants that or there are tons of mom and pop style stores full of Texas lore. Las Vegas is an unbelievable place to visit; garish style to the max and plain fun to explore even if you don't gamble. If you want a sugar sand beach and turquoise water with your city try Georgetown, Grand Cayman or Maui, Hawaii. Stylish is up to YOU my friend. There are tons of travel sites and books to guide you to your paradise city, but first you must define "stylish" for yourself. Going to a cold, concrete jungle full of rude people is not my idea of style no matter how many rich people live there or try to sell $1,000 bags that aren't any bigger than my toaster at home. It's a purse for Pete's sake! Sorry, I just don't get it. I would rather spend the $1,000 traveling to a gorgeous destination for what my aunt called "soul memories." Get out there and get some soul memories started. Travel is expanding your horizons and enriching your dreams per your style whatever that may be.
