One of the best card games for young children is pairs. You take turns to pick two cards from a spread of face down cards. The object is to pick a matching pair. This game is great for memory building and can be adjusted to fit any age group. Simply play with less cards for the very young and add extra cards as they grow.
Snap
Children of all ages love snap. As the name suggests, two players divide the pack between them and take turns to lay a card, face up. When two identical cards are laid, the first person to shout snap and put their hand over the card wins all the cards on show. Continue until one person holds all the cards.
CHEAT
Children love cheat as it is one of the rare times when they are allowed to cheat. The object of the game is to get rid of all your cards.
Deal all the cards out between all players. One player lays down between 1 and 4 cards, face down.
They must say out loud what they are laying. Say they lay two fours, the next person must lay either threes fours or fives.
You must always lay the number above, below or the same number as the person before you.
You can cheat at any time you like, even saying you are laying down two cards but really laying 3 or 4.
If a person believes you are cheating they call cheat, then you must show the last cards that you laid. If you were cheating you have to take all of the cards, if you weren't cheating the person who called cheat has to take all the cards.
Beat your neighbors out of doors.
Two person game.
deal the whole pack but you do not look at your cards.
Take turns to lay one card at a time face up.
Number cards have no effect but picture cards and aces cause the other person to have to lay extra cards.
Aces lay 4 cards
Kings lay 3 cards
Queens lay 2 cards
Jacks lay 1 card.
If you lay a picture or ace card while laying the extra cards the other person has to start laying extra cards, depending on the picture card layed.
If a player lays the total of extra cards without laying a picture card, the other person takes all the cards laid.
The winner is the person with all the cards.
