Getting your kids to do their chores

Do we as adults get paid for doing the dishes? How about taking the garbage out? ok, for making our bed every morning? How about cooking 2-5 meals a day?

In my humble opinion, children should be taught that doing things around the home that they live in is part of living in the home. It is part of making our home a comfortable place to be at the end of the day. In order to be happy and live comfortably, we all have to pitch in with the chores each day. That is part of being a family. That is not a job!

Parents should only pay your kids to do odd jobs around the house and yard that you would hire someone else to do. For example: washing the windows, cutting the grass, cleaning out the garage, washing the car, filing our papers, babysitting siblings, etc.

Those are jobs that are worthy of pay. Do we want to teach our children that the only way to clean your house when you are on your own is when someone pays you? Don't do the dishes, unless you get paid? That is absurd?
