Depression is self induced. If you refuse to be depress, you won't. This statement is going to set many a people depressed because I sound like I'm an impassionate fool, but that's how I handle depression. I refuse to be depress. I just simply, stubbornly refuse.
Whatever things or events that I feel can ignite the sense of depression in me, I refuse to take notice. Some says it's a form of escapism. Not wanting the face reality. Some say I'm simply selfish. To a certain extent I think I have to admit to these accusal.
When the word depression is mentioned, what is the first thing that comes to mind? It's yourself and your self pitifulness. Depression stems from self pity. You value your feelings more than the feelings of others, so you get more easily depressed. Every little word, every little action that has not been said or done as you expected, gives you a bout of depression. Some take it lightly and the depression goes of within seconds. Some takes it seriously and can be depressed for days over very petty matters. These are the people that need to be educated. They need to be clearly explained to them that this world belongs a few billion people, so they better wake up and take note that everyone differs in opinions and actions and there is no necessity to be upset or depressed over trivial things.
Having said that, depression is not a feeling that we can control. When I see a terrible accident where human lives have been lost, I feel depressed for days. when I see a dog gets tortured by some cruel humans, I get depressed. These are 2 different kinds of depression. The former, depression with a heavy heart. There is no anger. Just a feeling of emptiness, of helplessness. The later is a feeling of anger. Angry that a fellow human can be so cruel. I doubt there will ever be a cure for that.
