Real Madrid are a club that have won nine European Cups, and many more trophies in Spain. Their trophies were won with great teams and players. These are a few of the great former players that starred for Real Madrid.

Raul:

Raul played hundreds of games for Real Madrid from the 1990s up to 2010. During that period Raul scored a record number of the goals for them, approximately 323 in total. 228 of those goals were scored in La Liga, another record number in the league. These goals undoubtedly ensured that Real Madrid won a number of trophies, including three Champions League titles.

Zidane:

Zidane was a midfield player that starred for Real Madrid for five seasons before departing the club in 2006. As a playmaker Zidane made and scored plenty of goals from the midfield. Among Zidane's goals was a sweet volley against Bayern Leverkusen in the 2002 Champions League final, a goal which ensured a 2 – 1 Champions League final victory for Real Madrid. Zidane also won a La Liga title with the club. For many Zidane was the best player of the 1990s, and one of the finest midfield players to star for Madrid.

Di Stéfano:

Di Stéfano was perhaps one of the most complete soccer players to have starred for Real Madrid. Di Stéfano spearheaded the great Real Madrid teams that dominated European soccer in the early 1950s, and with them won a total of five European Cups. In two seasons Stéfano was the top goal scoring player for Madrid, and set new scoring records for the club that only Raul has eclipsed.

Ronaldo:

Ronaldo (Luís Nazário) was a Brazilian striker that played almost 200 games for Madrid. Ronaldo was prolific for Brazil, setting new goal scoring records in the FIFA World Cup. With electric pace and fine dribbling Ronaldo also scored plenty of goals for Madrid. Ronaldo did not play enough games to match the likes of Raul and Di S Stéfano, but still scored over 100 goals for the Spanish giants in less than 200 matches. Such goals clinched two La Liga titles for Real Madrid, and Ronaldo also scored in the 2002 Intercontinental Cup final which they won 2 – 0.

Puskas:

A legend of Hungarian soccer, Puskas was also a part of some of Madrid's great sides. Puskas played up front alongside Di Stéfano for Real Madrid teams that won three European Cups. Among Puskas' best games for Madrid came against Frankfurt in the 1960 European Cup final, a match in which he scored a total of four goals in a 7 – 3 thrashing of the Germans. In four seasons Puskas was the top goal scoring player in Spain's La Liga, and had an overall scoring record of almost a goal a game.

These former Real Madrid players are regarded by many to be among the finest of their generation. For both club and country they inspired their teams to glory, and lifted a countless number of trophies with Real Madrid. They are just a few of the legends included on the Real Madrid club website.
