How to save money on wedding flowers

The best way to save money on flowers for your wedding is to consider cutting out the middle person! The Florist!

I am sure that most women have an aptitude for color and design. I am also sure that most women have friends that arrange flowers!

Okay, now that we have one of the middle people out of the way, I will explain further.

Florists buy their flowers from a floral wholesaler.

I used to be in the wholesale flower business, so I can tell you some of the dark secrets. Florist's usually operate on a three hundred percent mark up! There is nothing wrong with that, most florists are struggling to cover their over heads!

One huge reason that wedding flowers are so expensive from the florist, is that often the Bride will request flowers that are out of season! Out of season means that they are not readily available, locally in the Country of your residence.

However, just about every flower is available some where in the world, most of the time, except they will cost you an arm and a wedding dress!

If you do want a florist to arrange your wedding flowers, ask them for their advice. Ask them what kind of flowers are around at the time of year that you are planning on getting married. A lot of Brides tend to look at floral brochures and once they decide on a particular arrangement, they tend to insist on certain flowers that are displayed in the pictures!..No matter what! Understandably, this is a once in a life time event and it is your wedding!

Most Floral Wholesalers, will sell to the public! They have certain prices for their regular trade and when they see you coming, they will hoist the price somewhat, but, it will still be a lot cheaper!

At a Floral Wholesale estblishment, you will have to buy whole bunches of flowers, as they do come from the flower auction or brokerage that way! Wholesalers will not split the bunches for you!

Please understand, the longer you take to decide what you want and the more you put your salesman through, the higher the price will go! Wholesale florists do all their business in bulk and at a low mark up.

If they have to spend a lot of time sitting through the ordeal of a Bride choosing her flowers, then it is more likely that they will not be very helpful. No matter, you will save a fortune!

The best thing to do is to visit a wholesale florist and introduce yourself initially. Ask if you take a look at the flowers in their coolers. Most will oblige! This way, you can start to plan it all yourself.

Usually, there is a department that sells ribbon, pins and everything else that you will need. Again, you will be buying in bulk, but it will still save money for you.

Perhaps you have a friend that is geting married around the same time that you are. If you are considering purchasing items in bulk, it will be cheaper even still, to split everything down the middle.

Another thing, when going to a wholesale florist, always take cash. Cash will be more acceptable and will lead to a better discount!
