It comes a point where even the fastest may not survive for very long. The well known McLaren F1 supercar, a car that still to this day is worth well over a million dollars. Seats 3 and topped out around 230+ miles and hour. That's fast. Really fast. Considering this car was made in the mid 90's....it's still well known.
But some 12 years later, it seems that the Extreme Supercar class, consisting of the worlds fastest production street cars, has been jumbled nearly six times so far. Three companies are not stopping their fight for the worlds fastest vehicles. And only more will come.
The new well known Bugatti Veyron, topping at a blistering 253 miles an hour is fast. Very fast. In a sense, it can outrun an airbus JET, which only really travel around speeds of 375 - 400 kmh. About 245 to 250 miles an hour. However, Koenigsegg, a previous company to hold the same record (Albeit for a month) is returning with the Koenigsegg CCX. Infamous American car company Saleen, specialized in tuning Mustangs to produce ridiculous amounts of power, has brought out an updated S7TT. Twin Turbos added to a car that produced over 500 horses. That's always fun.
We also have another American production car in the game, under the SCC Aero nameplate, who claims that they may be able to take the Bugatti. Porsche is creating a GT9 supercar that will also compete in this league.
Yeah, the Bugatti's fast. But there's a handful of cars, and tuned cars (Hennessey Dodge Viper, Lingenfelter Viper, Gemballa Mirage) that also claim that they can take out the Bugatti.
At the moment the fastest cars on earth (Production, not tuned) remain to be
Bugatti Veyron
Koenigsegg CCX
Saleen S7 Twin Turbo Competition Package
SSC Aero
Chrysler ME 412
McLaren F1
TVR Cerbera Speed 12
And that's only naming a FEW.
Note that i'm using the term fastest as in Highest top speed and NOT QUICKEST to 60.
