Why eat out instead of eating in

Although cooking at home is cheaper and means you can control what your family will eat, it is nice to eat out occasionally. Eating out gives you a break from the mundane chores of cooking and washing up afterwards. It is relaxing when somebody else does the hard work for you. All you have to do is enjoy your meal.

A change of surroundings is good for you. It gets boring looking at the same four walls every time you eat. You can also people-watch in a restaurant. I enjoy observing others and imagining what they do for a living or what their hobbies are, especially since I like to write. You could even meet some interesting folks. I met my husband in an outdoor restaurant in Athens, Greece when we got talking about a stray dog. Before we got chatting, I had imagined him to be a Greek-American visiting relatives in the old country. He is Italian-American and he was in Athens on business, but my guess was still quite good.

Depending on where you go and your own personal level of expertise, eating out can give you the opportunity to try food that tastes better than that which you are able to make yourself. I enjoy ethnic dishes, and I like to go out to eat them despite the fact that I endeavor to make my own. There is a Japanese restaurant in my local area where the chefs prepare an excellent grill and entertain you simultaneously. I'm a good cook, but I'm not that talented. There is also an Italian restaurant that does pasta dishes that taste infinitely better than mine, and I do a mouth-watering seafood marinara, even if I say so myself. It is nice to eat food prepared by experts not only because it tastes great, but also because it inspires you to try different things at home.
