How to improve your PowerPoint presentations

Presentation and you can choose it to play automatically or When Clicked. I advise choosing When Clicked' so that you have power over when it starts. When you play the Presentation, click the movie to let it begin and click it again if you wish to stop it. Make sure the movie is relevant and isn't too long. It should say what you need it to, and nothing more as it's tedious watching a movie where nothing happens, as such.

8. Hyperlinks! You can hyperlink text and pictures to items external to the PowerPoint such as charts, text and web pages. You can also hyperlink to other slides. To hyperlink, begin by right clicking the item and then Hyperlink' or alternatively going to Action Settings'. Choose where you want to go from there.

9. Action Buttons! These are a neat little feature and make a PowerPoint look rather Snazzy'! It's essentially a hyperlink. Look towards the bottom left of the screen and click Auto shapes; Action Buttons. Choose from the various boxes a shape for your action button and drag it on screen to the desired shape. The Action Settings' box will automatically appear and you can choose to hyperlink it to another slide in the presentation or alternatively an external URL. These buttons are helpful if you want to create a Main menu' from which you can access the content via the buttons.

10. Printouts! If you want to print the information and are presenting to 10 people and your Presentation is a mere, let's say, 4 pages, then that's 40 sheets of paper! It is far more ethical to use the aptly named Handouts' feature. Click Print and then under print what:' choose Handouts' from the drop down menu. You can then choose how many slides to print per sheet of paper and whether to list them horizontally or vertically.

That is everything I have to say about the features of PP. Just keep in mind that slides are free and you can have as many as you want, so don't cram too much information on each. About 5 bullet points of information for each is ok or 8 lines of dense text, otherwise your audience may not take it all in. Spell-check all of your work thoroughly and proof read! Proof reading is vital as you may pick up on something the computer missed. Also, a bit of colour and a font change wouldn't go amiss, but make sure it isn't hard to read.

I wish you the best of luck when using PowerPoint!
