When it comes to shoe trends, styles come and go with each season and new trends emerge. The top shoe trends for spring 2013 have already been on the runways and in the tabloids. Be on top of the new shoe trends and check out what best flatter your feet.

Show some shine

One of the top trends for shoes for spring 2013 is shine. Whether it's shiny patent leather, silk or satin; shine is definitely going to be a hot trend. Although satin shoes were usually intended for weddings or other special evening events, the trend of satin shoes is designed to be paired with regular wear. Pairing satin shoes with your everyday jeans or dress pants is a great way to show some shine on your feet, while spotlighting your shoe.

Patent leather is another great shine detail and can be a little more versatile. Thigh-high boots for spring wear or peep-toe heels can be a great way to have a shiny detail. Patent leather is much more durable when it comes to weather proofing and can be paired with a great patent-leather bag, which very popular in extra-large handbags.

Print

Prints in shoes are going to be huge for the spring 2013 season. However, the prints that will be most trendy will be specific patterns such as zig-zag, swirls or animal print. Reptile, leopard and zebra prints in shoes will be popular. However, stylists are stressing the importance of mixing up prints in the pulled-together outfit.

Old trends consisted of focusing on one specific print and trying not to overpower the eye, but the new trend is mixing animal prints and creating a dazzled eyeline with zig-zaggy prints and tightly enclosed patterns.

Ankle-strap wedges

Wedges have been hugely popular in the past few seasons they offer height while providing stability for the wearer. The big trend for spring 2013 is the wedge with an ankle strap and peep-toe. This style is blending two great trends into one, and everyone from pricey designers to thrift-savvy designers are implementing this style into their shoe lines. The peep-toe allows the wearer to display fun spring toe nails and the ankle strap gives the shoe extra sturdiness. Wearers can choose from straps that range from thin and strappy to wide and chunky.

Ankle boots

Ankle boots are another trend that derived from an earlier popularity. However, the trend has branched out to encompass a variety of different heights in ankle boots. This includes everything from the low height ankle boot that looks almost like a pump and the mid-length boot that is chunkier and wider to allow the wearer to highlight socks or tuck in the pant leg. The main trend for this ankle boot is the accentuation of the sock.

Shoe trends are always fun to play around with because they are considered an accessory to the outfit, or even the focal point. Although many of the shoe trends were seen on the runway in an obscure light, these are the kinds of shoes that can be altered to fit everyday wear. Choose the right shoe trend that is most flattering to your feet and your lifestyle and have a little fun for the 2013 spring season.
