Attending a bookcrossing convention

I have not had the pleasure of going to a Bookcrossing Convention yet!
But I look forward to the day when one is held locally and I can get the time off from work to go to it!

I have however been to a few Bookcrossing Meet-ups!

For the none Bookcrosser's amongst us. See the articles here on Bookcrossing, or visit www.bookcrossing.com for more information.

A Meet-up is where people who are part of Bookcrossing and live fairly close to each other meet up. In a convenient and friendly venue.

The first meet-up I went to I was so nervous, at meeting all these new people.
I luckily went with another Bookcrosser, who I knew. We met at a local Lakeside Cafe. The venue was stunning but the other Bookcrosser's were late and we were about to leave, giving up on them - When they arrived.
They were late due to transport issues and at first I was unsure of them. But as we went through the time, we started to chat and a few of them recognized my bookcrossing User name and talked to me about the things I had done and where I had released.
We all bought books to share and release and we had a great time. So much for being nervous!

The next meeting I went to was even closer to me and my mum wanted to come with me. She is not even a Bookcrosser, but was treated like part of a big friendly family at the Meet-up. This time is was at a Riverside pub. (maybe we are having water themed meet-ups, without even realizing it!).
It was great to meet everyone and share. I also managed to promote my 'Think Pink Challenge' ( A Mass Release of Bookcrossing books for sponsorship for Cancer Research UK) and even got some sponsorship and more book to pass on for it. they also did a huge mass release walk through the local town and got many journal entries for those books, which was brilliant!

I am now in with-drawl for the next meet-up...

Will go and see if we can organise another...
