Are you embarking on a holiday and is seriously considering who to take along with you? To make the task of choosing the ideal traveling companion among your many friends easier, I would like to share my Travel Companion Checklist:
1. Do you share the same conception about hygiene and cleanliness?
This is one is pretty much basic. You would be spending most of your vacation with your companion and last thing you want to worry about is sharing a room with someone who thinks bathing is a chore and that leaving soiled clothes scattered about is fine. For the record, bathing once a day is normal for me and I totally hate a messy room. Different folks, different strokes but what's important is that both of you are on the same plane about this one.
2. Do you share at least one common interest? Do your personalities jive?
It's great to do something new and adventurous on your holiday but there will be moments when you'll just want to chill. Your common interest will be a good source of relaxing conversation as you wait in line, sit on a bus in between destinations -you get the picture. Adds pleasure to the trip and makes waiting a little more bearable.
3. What does your companion think of the travel destination?
Whining about the sun on a beach or opting to stay in the hotel instead of accompanying you for a hike around trails is a serious let-down for both you and your companion. Why take someone who doesn't have the inclination nor the stamina for hiking on a mainly nature trip? It's such a waste for you both. Make sure your companion shares your enthusiasm for the Pyramids of Egypt. You don't want to go through a lot of hassle only to find out that your companion can't see the Pyramid among the sands (forest, trees, you know).
There you go, my short and no-nonsense tips for an ideal companion on your travel getaway. Enjoy!
