Type II Diabetes is treatable through diet and oral medication. The oral medication is only there to help your body's blood sugar control. Once you have diabetes there is no cure or magic pill, instead, you have to make your mind up that you are going to adhere to a regiment of sticking to the proper foods. (No Fast Food)
Currently my wife and I, both have type II and unfortunately, my wife has one of the debilitating symptoms that come from having diabetes. Its called,"Diabetic Neuropathy", this disease causes the nerve endings in your legs and arms to inflame and create a lot of pain. The current treatment is, anti-depressants, and pain killers. The Government has elected to stop covering the medication treating the symptoms for the seniors on SSI. The pain is so bad that it can bring a grown man to tears without moving a single muscle. The Governments reasoning is that the medication is just a treatment, not a cure. Meanwhile those with the disease must endure the pain, or elect not to eat and buy the medication. I say, lets bring this disease into the publics eye and get some support so that the big pharmaceuticals will find it profitable to find a cure. We all know that they will only look into this if they can make a cool BILLION off your suffering.
Please, if anyone knows of something that can help, other than the above, let me know. Anyone else with this condition and maybe, some insight, will also be greatly appreciated.
