Many online profiles come with a preset form to fill out, so that you aren't so stumped for ideas. These can be things such as hobbies, interests, music taste, looks, religion, sexual orientation and so on.

1. Write your profile well and without contradictions.

2. Write it clearly so it is easily understood and you will be well on your way to conveying your personality.

3. Write it truthfully so that you won't have to go back on what you say, and if your tastes change, make sure to update your profile.

4. Write honestly so that you don't compromise your personality and integrity for the sake of impressing someone. If they can't accept you for who you are then move on.

5. Write positively. Don't mention where you fail; mention where you shine.

6. Make yourself seem interesting in whatever way possible. Mentioning your hobbies and interests can also help people see if they have much in common with you.

Remember that when writing a profile or even talking to people over the internet, don't give away contact numbers, income information or credit card details. You wouldn't stop a stranger in the street and give them your property deed, so don't do the equivalent online!
