Road trips can be long and lonesome if you don't have that perfect companion. Some people sleep the whole time, some talk the whole time, some are messy, some are annoying, etc. If you want to keep your sanity on that long open road, you must find the perfect companion to accompany you.

Bring along someone who has the same musical interests as you. It is really annoying when I'm driving and someone starts changing the radio station. It drives me completely mad. So, finding someone with the same taste in music can hopefully eliminate this.

Look for a companion that packs light. You don't want all of their stuff weighing you down.

Find someone that has the same goals/expectations for the trip. If you're in a hurry to get to where you're going, you don't want to travel with someone who wants to stop at every single historical marker along the way. On the other hand, if you do want to do some site-seeing, you don't want to be with someone who gets bored with everything quickly.

Hopefully you can find someone that is willing to help with the costs associated with the trip, especially with today's gas prices!

One more thing, make sure you know this person pretty well...you don't want to get 2,000 miles from home only to find you're traveling with a serial killer!

Hopefully following these simple tips will help make that road trip into something fun and relaxing instead of long and stressful!
