Packing tips for a child going to sleep-away camp

by Mash

As a child, I loved to go camping, whether I went with friends to a cheap campsite in Wales or to a busy campsite in France during summer. I never seemed to pack the right gear to camp in. Personally, I think the most effective things to take camping are the things that most don't necessarily think of.

My list of things would include:
Plenty of socks - the worst thing when camping is having wet feet.
Wellies - to stop them ruining their shoes.
Plastic bags - To put wet clothes into, to avoid wetting their other things.
A good quality sleeping bag - Nights can be very cold when sleeping outside.
Thick jumpers - Again, to avoid the cold.
Plasters - Just in case.

These items amongst necessities (toiletries etc) have been
things I often don't pack enough of or at all and have regretted.
