Interesting enough I was just bought into a situation where one of my friends for over ten years became a Pentecostal. Five years ago he was in a death metal band and although he never proclaimed he was a Satanist, he sure didn't disapprove of having any Satanic music. When he came into touch with Jesus Christ it were almost as if he just flipped a switch. He is still always the egomaniac he always was but now he is a Christian.
My battle with him is he is not talking to me anymore because I was born and raised a Catholic. I have had my share of born again Christians and oddly enough it appears that within a year or even less they discontinue their self-righteous ways and realize what religion is. Regardless if you believe in Heaven and Hell, God or Satan. There is for sure negative and positive forces that control the behavior of all human beings.
I think this is where religion comes in. It teaches us to discern good from bad. It teaches us to be liable for the consequences of our actions and as I told him over six years ago. Satan has all the power on earth if you let him have it, why sing song's about him? Religion teaches us to have morals, so to say one is better than the other, I disagree. They all have positive values. Unless you religion is worshiping Satan. They say it is a selfish religion. So would I want a medic in a fire-fight on the battle front to be a Satanist? NO!
My biggest issue was him blasting my faith. He certainly thinks one religion is better than the other one and in this case he is bringing two Christian faiths head to head and smashing my religion. He even referred to Catholicism to be the, "The great whore Of Babylon." And my faith is one if not the oldest form of Christianity in existence. Pentecostals have only been around a little more than 100 years, of course there is going to be corruption in a religion that is over 2000 years old. I am not condemning him. I am so happy for him he changed his life, now he thinks he need to change me.
To me, he missed the point. If he is blasting Christians against Christians, in my opinion that is Satan's work at his best. All the murder in the world does not compare to attempts in bringing believers in Jesus against each other.
And he refuses to talk to me now. And I was the one that was preaching to him six years ago when he thought it was cute to get a McDonald's receipt back with his change being 6.66.
I think he has a lot of growing up to do and he has to realize what religion is suppose to really teach us. It should teach us to respect on another, love each other and forgive. If religion is religion that is positive , and there is no reason to mention what this is, it all has served it's purpose.
