Travelling to China for business or leisure? Either way, knowing some important phrases to get around, ask for something, to express your thanks or apologies is a must to enjoy your stay. Here are some key words and phrases:
I = wo We = wo men
You = ni They ta men
He, she it = ta
Right = dwei
Wrong = bu dwei
be able to = hwei
not be able to = bu hwei
hau = good, fine
bu hau = bad, not fine
you (sounds like yow) = have
mei you = don't have
How are you doing? = Ni Hau Ma?
I'm fine. Thank you. = Hen Hau. Sye sye.
Excuse me. sorry. = Dwei bu chi
No problem. = Mei wen ti.
What is this? = Je shr shenme?
Please speak slower = Ching swo man yi dyien.
What did you say? = Ni shwo shenme?
My name is _________ = Wo de mingdz jyau ________.
What's your name? = Ching wen ni gwei sying?
Where's the restroom? = Ching wen tse swo dzai naly?
How much? = Dwo shau chyan?
I want to buy that. = Wo yau mai na.
Delicious! = Hen hau chr.
Good morning = Dzau an.
Good afternoon = Wu an
Good evening = Wan an.
