The legal battle over marijuana use

Why is marijuana illegal in the US? Isn't alcohol more dangerous? There are many questions that arise over this topic but, all of them can be answered. When answered correctly the result is all to familiar.

The United States government wouldn't make enough money off of marijuana. Unlike tobacco or wheat, barely and hops, marijuana would be a very largely imported plant. Therefore not as profitable as alcohol or tobacco. You might be asking, well couldn't the government tax it? Well of course they could and if legalized they would but, the tax money collected from it wouldn't make it worth there time.

If legalized at one point, most of the marijuana would go straight from a dealers hands into the consumer. Therefore passing under the governments notice. If the government can't track it they don't want anything to do with it.

We all know that alcohol is dangerous, and can lead to violent outbursts. In fact there is a staggering correlation concerning the abuse of alcohol and spouse abuse. Also alcohol is an addictive drug. There are way more concerns with health issues surrounding the use of alcohol.

Marijuana is a very soft drug. Its effects are not debilitating. The user is in full conscious. Yes there are some perception changes, mostly involving time but, the effects of marijuana are short lived, and very mild compared to alcohol. Marijuana does not make a user violent, or psychotic. Most users of marijuana are very mellow people how do not have problems accomplishing everyday tasks.

The government could make marijuana a profitable consumer good. We are not at any risk with the American people smoking marijuana legally.
