then I had to fill out the paperwork for their outfits. Mark stayed in the car and Jimmy proudly showed off his fat lip to all the kids there.
Then we drove home so we could get lunch and get Mark to football for pictures by 2:30 and practice at 3:30 with a game at 4:30 (whew). But - Mark kept complaining he felt bad. He didn't have a fever and I didn't see anything in particular wrong, but his eyes looked funny and he generally acted sick. So - I called his coach and said we were taking him to the clinic and we hoped to still make practice by 3:30, but I was pretty sure we'd miss pictures. We completely skipped lunch and got to the clinic at 1:30-2:00. By 2:00, when the nurse took Mark's temperature, it was over 100 degrees. By the time he got back to the room and the doctor came it, it had spiked even higher. His cheeks were bright red and he was freezing cold. The doctor did his stuff and it turns out Mark has strep! We left the clinic, dropped the prescription off at pharmacy, drove back to a fast-food restaurant to grab something quick for lunch, drove back to the pharmacy, picked up the prescription and drove home. I called the coach at 3:30 to say Mark was sick and had strep. He made a funny sound and said, "you know - we use the same water bottles for the entire team - I think I may need to sterilize them!". Aaaaaargh! :o)
We ate lunch, gave Mark his first dose of medicine and I put in a movie for the kids. Hubby gets home from work at that time, which allows me to get to the grocery store and actually stock our bare shelves. When I get back, I've got a message from one of the other mothers of the football player to find out her son started throwing up in the middle of the game and they had to take him to the ER during the first quarter. They think it's just a viral thing, but evidently he's been feeling a little off for a week. Now - we realize all the football players have not only been exposed to strep, but also to a stomach virus. At the same time!
Jimmy kept playing with his loose top tooth and decided it was loose enough to come out. He spent 30 minutes trying to pull it out himself and even went to the garage to find just the right pair of pliers. Hubby finally pulled it out on the pretense of "Let me just see how loose it is." Which of course brought tears and howls of "You didn't say you were going to pull it. I wanted to pull it. That's not fair...... yada yada yada"
We got a quick dinner on the table at 8:35 pm, gave Mark another dose of medicine, got Jimmy in the shower - realized he didn't wash his hair and, at this point, I don't even care - he smells like a wet dog and can stay that way. It's now 9:30 and I've got to get Hubby to play tooth fairy tonight because I'm going to bed.
Just thought I'd share
