The dangers of politicizing the issue of global warming

By their very nature politician create havoc and concern. Politics is a business of rushing from one emotional issue to the next, trying to make the constituency happy. At the same time politicians are trying to do the "right" thing for the country as a whole. Too often these two goals don't mix. Global climatology is a huge issue. Scientists break it down into smaller parts and spend their lives studying those parts. The climate as a whole is a huge dynamic system, with innumerable variables and causalities to consider.

When thinking about climate change there are two things to keep in mind all the time. Climate change is inevitable, because of all the dynamic systems involved. Climate change also doesn't happen over night. This is not a matter of deciding whether a bridge should or should not be built. The reason why the founding fathers of the United States constitution set up our government in the way that they did was to stop people from making fast, dangerous decisions on things they didn't understand. Any subject where the proponents threaten to strip hard earned degrees and censor detractors should be looked upon with great fear. This mentality leads to the kind of repression and fear created by such shining figures of ruler-ship as Stalin, Mao Tse Tong, and Adolf Hitler. Millions die when we listen to people like this. Not necessarily all of them from bullets. Millions starved under Stalin because he didn't feel the little people living in siberea weren't important. This pattern has also held true in North Korea and China.

I would stipulate that anything that the United Nations has gotten involved in has become a debacle even if it wasn't to begin with. Government breeds red tape. Red tape is inefficiency. The United Nations is a government body of government officials, who argue about how to run other countries governments. Can you say "Unproductive?" I knew you could. As global warming is an important subject, the last people we want involved in its discussion are politicians. Especially people who refuse to let small things like facts get in the way of any discussion on the subject. Also if there is solid proof that man is not behind global climate change, then it becomes impossible to rob (oops, I mean tax) the developed countries in the West into paying for third world development. There is no factor other than honor to goad politicians all over the world a reason to doubt global warming.

Not all of those talking about global warming are in agreement on its cause. Heck there is not even a consensus on the idea the globe is warming. Many highly trained scientists have many other theories on the source of global climate change. Not that you will find their stories in the popular media, as they are afraid that there will be riots like those resulting from a couple of cartoons last year. Machiavelli told us that in ruling love is good, but fear works. I don't want to be governed by people who trade in fear, whether from bombs and censorship, or screams that sea levels will rise.
