Gender inequality in sports

Women athletes. That's right, we exist. But the typical result of sharing the information with people that I am an athlete is either: "are yo a lesbian?" or "do you have all your teeth?"
It was offensive at first, but now it's just amazingly hysterical. To still put a label on women that are athletic is absurd. Quite frankly I'm sick of it.
Mrs. America 2007 just had a strongly athletic women compete and she finished in the top five. There is no reason anymore to be stereotypical about women in sport.

Women are breaking out. We just don't watch men play sports anymore, we are involved. It seems that almost every sport played by a man has a womens alternative.
But of course this breakout is just beginning. We are just on the verge of being socially acceptable to be a strong athletic women.
One day we'll receive the attention men do, the funding, the corporate interest. But it's still a waiting game because mothers and fathers are finally realizing it's o.k for their daughters to be hockey players, rugby stars or tennis divas.
And hopefully, on the other hand, it's acceptable for their sons to be opera greats and figure skating champions. We're all coming together. It's not all about Friday night lights anymore but assuring our children that it's acceptable to be the best at what they are truly amazing at!
