There are a lot of ways to deal with a back stabber here are just a few:
You can ignore them. This doesn't make the situation better it probably will just give you migraines and you'll still get in trouble.
You can stab back. This might be fun for a minute but in the end revenge is never the answer. This probably will escalate the problem and you'll both get fired.
You can become emotional. Cry, scream whatever, this is just what a back stabber will enjoy. They live off the rush that they feel by causing pain for others.
You can befriend the back stabber. There is a reason for the expression "keep your friends close but your enemies closer." The down side to this is you make yourself vulnerable to adding to the back stabber's ammunition
Or you can stop a back stabber in their tracks by taking their ammunition away. Follow the rules, do your job, mind your own business, keep your own confidence (example don't brag or tell anyone if you are up for a promotion). You can't be stabbed in the back if the backstabber has nothing to use against you.
