The sentencing to death and hanging of Saddam Hussein is a politically and morally gruesome act. This is so mainly because no one can exclude the involvement of the US in his hanging and also the way he was put to death which showcased something like a revenge killing , an act that no democratic government as the US says is now governing Iraq should tolerate.
Saddam Husein himself was no good person , but according to international law any one should be given a fair trial and a chance to defend themselves in the courts. This custom was given little or no consideration by the ruling government of Iraq or the US in prosecuting Hussein. Two of his lawyers were murdered and the a judge was removed during the hearing which shows the credibility of the court.
And the Ironic thing about this whole thing that everyone don't seem to notice is that the reason of his sentence was the massacre of 148 shia villagers and the court didn't even put charges against him concerning the 1982 Iran- Iraq war which killed millions. The reason behind this might be that during that time Hussein was a strong American ally and the US even supplied him with arms to Invade Iran with a lame excuse and putting charges against him in that crime would have put the current US administration in a very tight spot. This shows the court is biased towards the US.
The bottom line is that the US, to wash their hands of their part in some of the crimes Hussein committed, used the influence they have over the Iraqi government put Saddam Hussein to death. He may deserve to to die but not in this way and not by the hands of an enemy who were willing to kill kill him rather than a democratically elected government after giving him a fair trial carrying out the sentence.
