Too many young criminals see elderly people as easy targets in todays society. Far too often you read in the news of yet another senior citizen being attacked, mugged or even their homes being broken in to by thugs. How many Anti-social Behaviour Orders are in place at the moment for crimes against the elderly?

In general, elderly people no longer get the respect they deserve and have earned, by making our lives today a lot easier. If it wasn't for the bravery of previous generations fighting for equal rights and freedom of speech, we would not have such a say in how the country is run today.

And how are they rewarded? A tiny state pension which is barely enough to live on, and a free bus pass!

Modern technology is yet another problem when it comes to the elderly. I believe a lot more of our older generation would be more than happy to use up-to-date equipment, if they knew how to. At schools, children are taught how to use facilities such as the Internet, but what training is in place for older people to learn how to live in the modern world?

Ignorance should be a crime. Remember what your elders have done for you and treat them fairly. One day, you will be old and I'm sure you would like to be treated the same as you are today.
