Adam Sandler's performance of a man suffering form post traumatic stress disorder is as moving as Dustin Hoffman's performance of an autistic man in Rain Man. Sandler's character, Charlie, lives in seclusion after loosing his family in one of the plane crashes of September 11.
Strangely, he tears out his kitchen and remakes it repetitively, and he can't sleep at night. He spends his days playing video games in his cluttered apartment. He trusts no one until he meets an old college friend.
Finally, Charlie begins to trust again, and the barriers he has built up to protect him from feelings of pain begin to crumble. At the end of the movie, there is hope that he will be able to move on into another, happier, chapter in his life. This was an Oscar deserving performance for Sandler.
