Believers or hypocrites

"Don't Hate Me Because I'm Gay"

Author's Note: This article is aimed at Christians specifically, mainly because I happen to be one, but I hope you will get something out of it, no matter what your religious affiliation.

It strikes me as strange that some of my fellow-Christians condemn gays and lesbians so zealously for their sinful sexual acts, while ignoring the faults of people who commit other abominations regularly. It is true that the Bible states that homosexual acts (not necessarily homosexual attraction by itself) are an abomination to God (Lev. 18:22), but to keep ourselves from being hypocrites, if we zealously condemn those who practice homosexual acts, we must also zealously condemn those who practice the following abominable acts:

Being froward (willful, disobedient, stubborn, contrary) (Prov. 3:32)
Lying (Prov. 12:22)
Stealing and/or murdering (Ezekiel 18:10)
Committing Adultery (Ezekiel 18:11)
Oppressing the poor and needy, mugging, worshipping anyone/anything other than the Almighty Jehovah God (Ezekiel 18:12)(Mal. 2:11)
Lending money and making a profit on the loan by charging interest (Ezekiel 18:13)
Committing any unrighteous act (Deut. 25:16)

As I stated before, in order for us to avoid being hypocrites (God despises hypocrites, by the way), we must equally condemn everyone who currently commits the aforementioned abominable acts. This includes (but is not limited to): disobedient children/teenagers; anyone who tells lies, even if it's to save someone's life; thieves and murderers (kind of obvious); adulterers (large segment of the population); anyone who isn't a Christian; all money lenders, including the U.S. government; anyone who commits any sin at all (this includes you, me, and everyone else on the planet).

Let's not forget that Jesus teaches us to hate the person's sin, not the person! Obviously, that doesn't mean that certain sins should go unpunished by society. There are many sins that are punishable by man, but as far as I can tell, homosexual intercourse isn't one of them. But, if still you feel that it's your Christian duty to say horrible things about gay people, go right ahead. Just remember to toss a few insults at yourself, your audience, and your dearly departed mother.
