How adversity builds moral strength

Moral strength is a must have for everybody. It is like a skill that always comes in handy at all times. However, not many people possess or have developed good moral strength. Some people try to avoid adversities and would opt for an easy life. Ironically, everybody wants to do what is right but when given the situation, they fold up, turn their backs, and choose the convenient yet not necessarily moral way.

Adversity builds moral strength. A gem can't be polished without friction, nor a man can be made better without trials and hardships. Adversities are actually opportunities for a person to grow and become better. Nobody learns or gets better when times are good. But how do these adversities really make one stronger in terms of values, convictions, and principles? Read on and find out.

1.) Adversity teaches patience. Patience is a very important value to be developed in life. If you don't have patience, you can't go far in life. Patience is not all about being cool-headed, it is all about disciplining your emotions, especially anger and your temper and don't let them affect your judgment and actions. People who are prone to giving in to their emotions normally end up in the wrong side of things. How can you practice patience during rough times? Think about solutions and always keep in mind that time heals all wounds or solves all problems as long as partnered with good action. Patience can't be developed overnight, it takes some time. However, if you can stay patient during rough times, rest assured you can be patient in other things.

2.) Adversity makes you appreciate values and principles even more. It is tested and proven, something that is right will always prevail over time. Thus if you strive to stick to your morals and principles during tough times, you will soon see a rainbow at the end of the rain and you'll realize how important doing the right things really are even during rough times. It is easy to do good things when everything is great but it is difficult to stick to your values when times are stormy. However, if you give in to your emotions and do something unnecessary and things outside your values and principles, you will most likely experience more setbacks. It may be hard to stick to your principles during rough times, especially when you see some people get ahead of you. Something that is easily acquired or solved in the wrong way won't last. Do what's right no matter how bad the situation is and you'll end up as the better persn. If you can stick to your morals during tough times, you can stick to it during good ones.

3.) Adversity makes you mature emotionally and morally. People adapt to their environment and situations over time. Such adaptation is also highly influenced by the way people think. If people think positively in whatever situation, rest assured that such kind of person will have a good kind of life. However, if a person thinks negatively during tough times and even gives in immediately, rest assured that kind of person will live a not so good life. Since adversities are opportunities to make yourself better, especially emotionally and morally, most people who have experienced hardships in life are normally those that go far later on. If you experience hardships in life, face and live through it. It will make you get used to it and once you experience another set- back and adversity in life, you can face it easily because you already have the experience and the emotional strength to go through it.
