thats right i asked the inevitable question.
somebody had to ask it?
what is modern art? lets face it today any idiot can create what is referred to as modern art.
in my bold yet truthful opinion i find modern art dull and repetittive.straight lines - slaps of conccrete, a couple of household items glues together and its defined as art?
since when did humans lower their level of intelligence to this?
i am an art student and have studied fine art and modern art - and the difference is unbelieveable u have no idea how many idiots around the world shove a couple of bits of plastic together and they get paid millions for it.
now dont get me wrong they cant be all that dumb if they can make that amount of money from soemthing that horrific looking and un enticeing.
but lets just accept the trutht hat it takes no genius to tie some paaper cups to string adn hang it from the cieling - children create such things in art lessons...we dont expect to see it as valid work from fully grown men and women, they have no talent no vision no intellect, its quite literally common tack.
they bring shame to the word "ART" to even describe them as "ARTISTS" is a disgrace to geniuses such as leonardo da vinci, van gogh, lichtenstein, william morris, thousands of intelligent men who where philosophers architects, mathmeticians - its a shame that not everybody agrees with me and i will most probabaly be frowned upon for my opinion but i hold my hadns up to any commetns you throw at me but i do beleive that modern art being what it is today is making a mockery of the history of artistic civilisation.
some clear examples of my point are these.
i live in liverpool just for references sake and these are two pieces of pointless work which took years of effort and millions of our government money which could have been beter spent helping homeless and sick.
number one -
the docks of liverpool, a giatn slab of concrete with a question mark on it... now there probabaly was a point to it..but i just dont see it...and it looks horrendous!
number two - this years "modern art" exhibition consisted of covering our legendary lion statues wiv metal bar cages...why? because apparently it was artistic - it wasnt!
it made our city look like a gutter, like we had to lock up our historic monuments to prevent vandals and such from getting to them, its things liek that which our city doesnt need.
to conclude my point i say only one thing - the timed sculptures of irwin wurm - pointless and dull - need i say more?
