Hair care: Treatments for damaged hair

Through the popularization of ammonia, peroxide and heat styling, it is no wonder that so many people suffer with damaged hair. Unfortunately, there is no real way to treat damaged hair. Although a myriad of hair products claim to repair damage, this is simply not possible. However, there are certain tactics you can take to smooth and revitalize damage. Following is a guide to treating and managing damaged hair.

Trim Hair Frequently

Since there is no real way to repair damaged hair, it is mandatory that you trim your hair often. Even if you are attempting to grow your hair longer, you must trim the ends every few months. If you are attaining to grow longer hair, trim your hair about an inch every three months. However, if you wish to maintain length, trim the hair about an inch every two months. It should be noted that you should never attempt to cut your hair from home. Most likely, your scissors are too dull to trim hair precisely. Trimming hair with dull scissors can only exacerbate damage.

Keep Hair Moisturized

One of the most major culprits of damaged hair is dryness. Products containing ammonia and peroxide can cause the hair to become parched and brittle. Additionally, heated styling products, such as hot rollers, blow dryers, curling irons and straitening irons encourage dryness and damage. To treat dry hair, consider utilizing a natural remedy. For instance, olive oil makes one of the best, all-natural hair masks. Simply slather a generous amount of olive oil into your hair and allow it to set for at least 30 minutes. After a reasonable amount of time has passed, rinse olive oil from the hair thoroughly. The end result should be healthier, more manageable hair.

Less is More

When it comes to your hair, the less you do to it, the better it will look. That's right, when you stow away the hair dryer and the dye, you will amazed by the results. Try reserving blow dryers and curling irons for special occasions. Furthermore, hair does not necessarily need to be washed every day. When you allow some of your body's natural oils to remain upon the scalp, hair will become healthier and more manageable. Make it a goal to only wash your hair once every other day. If you would like to naturally stimulate your scalp's oil production, try using the pads of your fingers to massage your scalp. Massage your scalp for a few minutes each day.
