Buying back your childhood: Tips for finding nostalgic toys on eBay

Sometimes there is a toy from your childhood that over the years came up missing and you want it back! You look at sales and flea markets and everywhere else you can think of to find a toy just like it. You know it existed you had one as a child and it was for many years your most treasured toy. What happened to it? No one knows, you can't remember when it came up missing, your parents remember the toy but they don't have any idea what happened to it. The best you can do is try to find another one somewhere. But where else can you look?

After searching and asking questions and coming up empty handed, my search for the elusive childhood toy took me to Ebay. All I could remember about this toy is she was a tiny doll and smelled like Gardenia. I have loved the smell of Gardenia every since that doll. And the smell of Gardenia always reminds me of her.

I started my search looking for a tiny doll wearing a flower dress that smells like Gardenia. I changed the wording or included parts of that in the search each time but still came up with nothing.

Then one day while talking to my mother once again about this little doll that I so desperately wanted to find, she started to remember more. Turns out I was searching for a Liddle Kiddle Colgne Kiddle by the name of Gardenia. Off I go to Ebay with this new information.

t didn't take long to find her. The next step was to get the doll of my childhood in the best condition possible. While trying to do this, I ended up with a small Kiddle collection. Which I'm pretty sure will continue to grow. As I have found I simply love all those tiny little dolls.

Since that time I have found many little childhood treasures on Ebay.

Here are some tips to help you in your search for your lost childhood treasure:

* Have at least a general idea of what you are looking for.

* Get an Ebay buyers account so you can bid as soon as you find it.

* Don't give up, keep looking. If you don't know exactly what it is called but you can describe it start with that. Don't get discouraged, keep looking. Eventually you will find it.

* If you know the name, you can be specific by typing in the specific name of the toy.

* It can also be a good thing once you find what you are looking for to do a wide search that is not exactly specific. Sometimes sellers don't know what they have and list items under the wrong title. Once while looking for Cinderella watches I found some Alice in Wonderland watches listed as Cinderella. These watches were not being bid on because they were listed wrong. The people who were looking for Cinderella watches are probably not interested in an Alice in Wonderland watch. If anyone looking for an Alice in Wonderland watch had stumbled across that auction they could have gotten a very good price.

* If you are interested in a wide range of toys from your childhood it can be beneficial to type in toys from a certain date range. This can also be helpful to find a good deal. As again many times sellers don't know what they have but they have a general idea of the date it was popular, due to the fact they know who the toy belonged to they can usually guess a date range quite easily.
