ABC was wrong to air the interview with Newt Gingrich's ex-wife. There are many reasons to make the case that it was a dirty hit piece by the left for the left's candidate. Brian Ross said in an interview the morning that the sleazy piece was to air that the ex-spouse's claims should be taken with a grain of salt. If ABC and Brian Ross knew that she was lying, it was irresponsible to air it.
ABC Nightline used to be a top notch program of in-depth reporting on the important issues of the day. By airing the one-sided interview of Newt's ex-wife they lost all credibility. ABC and Brian Ross gave another example of the slanted reporting that has reached a fever pitch under the Obama administration.
The purpose of the disgusting interview was to push Newt Gingrich out of the race. If interviewing scorned exes was something normal, where was the interview of John Kerry's ex-wife when he was running for President? When women were crawling out of the woodwork with statements about Bill Clinton, the main stream media insisted that it was a personal matter and not relevant.
Nightline is now being compared to the Jerry Springer show. Many people have said that they will no longer watch Nightline. ABC was not interested in the facts in this case. Newt Gingrich offered to have friends who knew Newt when he was married to Marianne come forward to be interviewed by Brian Ross to get both sides out. ABC refused.
The main stream media still doesn't understand that if a boat leans left too far, for too long, it will take on enough water to sink. The hit piece against Presidential Candidate Newt Gingrich made them take on a boatload of water. CNN joined in the bash by making the allegations the first question in the Republican Presidential debate. The tactic backfired in a big way. People stood and cheered when Newt addressed the question and addressed the underlying reason for it. The main stream media has let the majority down with their continued bias reporting.
An independent press was at one time a jewel of the United States. The media reported all of the facts and left it to the people to decide. Such a practice seems a thing of the past. The ABC Nightline hit piece is another example of why their ratings are in the toilet. They sing to the choir. They work to bring down anyone who would oppose their candidates.
As much as ABC was wrong to air the interview with Newt Gingrich's scorned ex-wife, it worked to highlight what is wrong with the main stream media, rather than highlighting what they hoped would be a defeat for Newt Gingrich.
