If you are retired from the workforce that does not mean that your life is over and there is nothing more that you can do to contribute to society and/or to your well being. You now have the opportunity to do those things that you could not do because you had to go to work and continue to earn a living for yourself.

Now you are earning money from your accumulated savings and if you are a citizen of the United States of America you are probably receiving a Social Security payment each month as well. You could also be receiving a pension payment from your former employer.

Be that as it may, it is time to have some fun while you are still healthy and alive. Taking a vacation to a far away place would be fun. Then again, you could buy a mobile home and travel the country for several weeks at a time.

You can become a collector of fine art, antiques and other collectibles. In so doing you can go to art shows, pawn shops, flea markets and other places in search of such items.

If you like to play golf and/or other sports you can do so and even join a golf club, join a bowling league and compete for money and other prizes, or play some other sport like target shooting.

Some people enjoy reading as a hobby and are constantly expanding their knowledge of the World and its people. You can also become a writer and write stories and or articles that can earn additional money for you each month. To do so right from the comfort of your hone you will have to own and use a computer.

Using a computer gives you the ability to learn many things that you would otherwise not know. You can also talk to people from other countries.

Do you like music? You can learn how to play the piano or some other musical instrument, like a violin or a clarinet. Then again, you can become a collector and/or dealer in phonograph records and other music media. Doing so can be highly profitable if what you purchase is subsequently sold for more than you paid for the item in question. As a collector of other items, those items can also be sold for a profit if you choose to do so.

As you some or all of the above you will become acquainted with many people, some of whom will become friends of yours. Being retired does not mean that your life is over and you are now just waiting to die.

Rather, you are making a new life style for yourself that you can change at any time and/or try additional things that might interest you as time passes. How you adjust to your new life depends upon your mental attitude and your desire to live a full, rich and enjoyable life for as long as you are alive.
