There are times that when scheduling your classes, you are left with long breaks in between two or more classes. While it may not be ideal, these are perfect opportunities to accomplish many tasks and have more time for leisure and less stress.
The first thing to do is organize your schedule and make a daily and hourly plan. Think about what needs to be done during the day and fill the time between classes with scheduled activities so that you are not left with wondering what to do.
One of the best things to do between classes is to review and rewrite your notes, begin or complete any assignments from the class that just let out or prepare and study for the next class. It is a perfect time to go over any assignments that are due for the next class, make sure you do not need to rewrite anything or study for any upcoming tests or quizzes.
It may be you have a few long breaks between class so think about other ways to utilize your time and schedule in some from the list below.
1. If you live on campus, think about taking a 20 minute power nap.
2. Schedule time to eat. Eating healthy and regularly will keep you fueled, increase your concentration and make you better able to learn the material and study.
3. Do laundry or organize your room. When you have the daily tasks completed and you are organized, it makes everything else easier to do.
4. Spend time in the library, return books or research papers.
5. Work on your computer. Update or load any new software, do maintenance on the computer to make sure it is running smoothly, defragment your disks or just set up a weekly virus scan during one of the breaks, while you may not be using it as much.
6. Schedule time to connect with family and friends, especially if you are away at school.
7. Read something for pleasure. Reading for pleasure can not only be relaxing and fun but helps keep your mind active and increases reading skills, which is important for reading text books or on line articles.
8. If you have a long enough break, see about working on campus and earn a little extra money.
If you schedule your off time with things that need to get done and things that will help you be more successful, you will be able to enjoy the off time, days with out any classes, much more. You will find your free time is really your own with out the stress of feeling guilty because you didn't do something you should have. Staying on top of everything in life means less possibility of being overwhelmed and falling behind.
