Once a sturdy hand outstretched
To clutch in times of need
Seems lost within the hazy mist
A churning sea of greed
So difficult climb ashore
Battling surf so vast
That loving gesture never more
The tide erasing all the past
Still the soul will struggle on
Through the hard, relentless sea
For three small words not yet forgot
When he said “trust in me”

You can trust me,
I assure you
Look me in the eyes
Could this face lie to you?
You can hate me,
I don’t care
