''For the last time. I will tell him when the time is right. When I think the time is right'' Sharon said quickly. She had said that to her mother so many times already, the words just came out automatically.

''Why can't you tell me? I am your mother for God's sake''

Sharon sighed heavily. "For the last time. Because the father of my child deserves to know first. I would appreciate it if you stopped asking me the same questions every day! I am not going to change my answers!''

''Is he that bad? Is that it?  He is so bad that you are embarrassed to tell me about him! I am right, aren't I?''

Sharon collapsed on the couch. At that moment, she decided to play her mother's game.

''Yeah, mom, you are right. It kills me to admit it, but I have to. The father of my unborn child actually served jail time. He is a criminal''.

Joanna's pale face encouraged her to continue.

''He is a burglar. You might want to change your locks, I heard your neighborhood will be his target next week''.

''Oh, now you are messing with me. You really think it is appropriate to joke about something so serious?''

Sharon flashed her a tired smile.''Of course not mom. You are right. I should be truthful. Okay then I have to admit that he is...''

''He is married....isn't he?  I knew it! Married with children! Oh, my God, Sharon, how could you do that? ''

''Because I watch too many soap operas and they do it all the time''.

''Will you please be serious for one moment?  Can you do that much?''  Joanna screamed and Sharon realized she went too far. She decided to tell her part of the truth...the part that was actually harmless.

''Okay, if you must know...The father of my child wears a red velvet scarf. He wears it all the time. It is like his lucky charm or something. Are you satisfied now?''
