Soundly Asleep
Until I have kissed every inch of her body I shall not relent
I shall not be absent, I shall not be sent…
Away from the love that my lips have embraced
Every contour of her body holds a measure of grace
The silken hair that my fingertips have traced
Is so softened that my memories are erased
Of every love I had owned in the past
For it is her lips alone in my life, that I shall kiss last
All my life I have waited for her hand
To hold in my heart till our bodies are only sand
For each morning to awake within her arms
This is the truest of all tales; I have fallen for her charms
The sparkle in her eye, the shine of her smile
In the woes of love, I have trodden for miles
No longer shall I search, no more shall I weep
For I write of our love, as I watch her soundly asleep
