Poetry: Throw my heart to the wind

Two Weeks or a Day

Ah, such beauty, but yet you find that love isn’t as it seems
But neither are you my dear, you are but a dream
Such a sin it is for someone like you to be let down
You say you can’t be alone, but you can,
Though not without wearing the most dramatic of crowns

Me neither love, the difference however is that I know
Without question or doubt, it is to you alone that I’d bow
Some say they’ll pray, some will help, and some will only stay
Waiting for you, to say the word, to give a smile, and demons be at bay

Damn do you not know what some would give, for whom from others would only take
It may be a heart on the line, but it’s a life that is at stake
There are smiles to share, children to watch grow and play
Forget all this and this place; just give me a day…

I may not win your heart, or even your feelings sway
But I’ll love you like a Goddess, an eternity for me but for you…a day
“Him or I?” some others would beg of you to say
From me love you’ll hear only…
“Give him two weeks…and I’ll love you more in just one day.”
