America is a unique nation in that she is governed by the people and for the people. Therefore it is for the people of America to decide what master they will serve. The success or failure of America does not rest solely on those warming seats in Washington, but those who are the people of America.
As long as “we the people” shirk our responsibility to an elite circle of politicians, we cannot turn this ship. The only way to elect the right people is to first be the right people. If we cannot govern ourselves and lead our families, how can we decide who can lead a city, state, or nation?
The first presidential candidates were not men vying for the position of President. They were not campaigning, they were serving. It was others who recognized their ability and service and nominating them to be President. Self-promotion was seen as dishonorable. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams became President because they were already being Presidential. The nation knew and trusted their leadership.
Today we watch as people of the same political party are in competition against each other so that they rise above to gain the elite seat of authority. I would rather cast my vote for the one too busy serving the nation to get caught up in campaigning for his own positioning. Or I would like to see a candidate being more interested in the strongest nominee succeeding rather than seeking first his own interest. I want to see people concerned more with the wellbeing of the nation, than their own position in that endeavor. The best man, or woman, for the job is most likely not yet visible.
We must remember that even if a godless tone is set for the next Presidential term, God is not absent. We cannot lose hope for America, because our government is falling apart. If we govern ourselves righteously and lead those we have influence with rightly, we can be ready to deal with any crisis that may come our way. Our job is to love God, love people, have healthy families, serve our community, and become well versed in our nation’s history. Even with the best of leadership at the head, this nation needs a people willing to work together to course correct a nation back to our Godly heritage, so that we can have a brighter and more stable future.
