"Walking in the Dust of Rabbi Jesus, How the Jewish Word of Jesus can Change Your Life," by Lois Tverberg, published by Zondervan, is a book that is true to it's title. After reading it, I really believe that I see God's Word with brand new eyes, and in a much brighter Light. As a Sunday school teacher at an Assembly of God Church in a small South Georgia town, I have been able to prepare and serve a much more nourishing meal to my class, as Ms Tverberg has given us a wonderful recipe to understanding what Jesus really is saying His many teaching moments and parables. Within it's 240 pages, "Walking in the Dust of Rabbi Jesus," brings to light and illuminates much deeper and more accurate explanations of the Masters teachings like "What it truly means to be made in the image of God." It is almost as if we are allowed to join in the company of those blessed ones who sat at His very feet. Never again will I try to assume that I understand what the Scriptures mean in my twentieth century understanding of the English language. No longer will I casually pass over a single Word that came from the lips of our Saviour, assuming that I have grasped the fullness of what He is saying.
It seems like when I finished reading, "Walking in the Dust of Rabbi Jesus," it was not the end, but the the beginning of a new journey of studying God's Word. I am so grateful for this wonderful work, and I can say that it is truly a witness to what the Bible means when it says, "And ye shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall make you free." (John 8:32). After I had turned the final page, I was overwhelmed with the same feeling that one gets when they find out that a favorite restaurant has decided to close it's doors, or perhaps a dear friend has made a decision to move away. "Walking in the Dust of Rabbi Jesus," will make you want to run after our Lord, hungering to hear more.
If you yearn to meet with Jesus in the way that His first disciples did, then "Walking in the Dust of Rabbi Jesus, How the Jewish Words of Jesus can Change Your Life," is for you.
