One of the most highly anticipated parts of the Golden Globes is seeing what the celebrities will be wearing.  This year the red carpet dazzled with amazing designer creations. The various media groups have delivered their verdicts on who made the best dressed list. This article looks at some of the most consistently well received looks.

Six of the best dressed women at the 2012 Golden Globes:

1. Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon wore a red strapless number that got tongues wagging. Mtv.com said, “It was a lady in red that might have stolen the show: Reese Witherspoon dazzled in a tight-fitted scarlet Zac Posen dress with a sweetheart neckline”. The strapless gown featured a mermaid style skirt with small train. She wore her hair in a low key wavy hairstyle, neutral make up, multiple bangles on one arm and red nails.

2. Jessica Alba

The Examiner awarded Jessica Alba best fairy-princess style. They said, “Jessica Alba’s fairy-princess inspired look, created by stylist Brad Goreski, was the image of perfection on the red carpet. Alba’s faint, purple gown would, no doubt, make any girl feel like a princess.” The dress was a Gucci design which featured a train and subtle jewel embellishments.

3. Elle Macpherson

There has been a lot of talk about how good supermodel Elle Macpherson is looking for her 47 years and her Golden Globes look got many positive compliments. The UK daily mail said “Supermodel Elle Macpherson wore a show-stopping Zac Posen corseted gown, featuring layers and layers of tulle underskirt.”

4. Claire Danes

Claire Danes wore a dress designed by J. Mendel that featured an open back design.Nydailynews.com said “Best Actress in a Television Drama winner Claire Danes is the epitome of elegance in this black and white J. Mendel gown.”

5. Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie wore a gown that stood out for all the right reasons. The Huffington Post said “The mother of six looked stunning in Atelier Versace and a chignon on the arm of her partner Brad Pitt." The floor length white gown, with thigh high slit, featured draping and an asymmetric feature neckline in Red. She partnered the dress with old Hollywood style make up and a Red clutch.

6. Sofia Vergara

Sofia Vegara wore a Vera Wang mermaid silhouette dress that featured lots of intricate pleating. Latino Fox news said “Despite losing the Golden Globe…Sofía Vergara was still the talk of the night. From the moment she arrived on the red carpet, jaws were hanging and twitter went wild with comments about her stunning midnight blue strapless gown.” She paired her gown with sleek hair, a diamond cuff and drop earrings.
