According to the PETA.ORG website, there are certain rights that governed the way a responsible pet owner should relate to his or her pet, be that pet a domesticated breed or those animals that are part of the wildlife preserves of their natural habitats. These rights will be discussed in detail in this article in order to give you some idea of what rights should (non-human) animals have.
The right to be treated humanely: On any given day in our communities, one can look outside his door and see a stray roaming the terrain in search of food or shelter. The consensus is to called the dog pound so that they would sent a dog catcher out to pick up the stray or strays. They might even sent a vet so that the animal can be nursed back to health. Yet, if the animal is not pick up by some caring future owner, then it is immediately put to death. That is not humane treatment. Humane treatment entails being concerned enough for the stray or strays in order to showcase their rights as homeless animals in finding adequate shelter for them. That may require going down to your local pound and rescuing a dog or two from being shot or bludgeoned to death.
The right to be properly housed: As suggested earlier, all animals should have the right to be properly housed. Pet ownership is a tremendous responsibility. It requires you to take into account the modalities that will inevitably come into play when you take proper matters into your hands toward pet ownership. Thus, you would want to enroll your dog in obedient training in order to domesticate him or her to your lifestyle.
The right to enjoy a healthy lifestyle: All animals deserve a healthy lifestyle. Whether that lifestyle is an appendum of yours or your purpose is to promote the healthy treatment of animals, particularly dogs, to a concerned constituency, you owe it to yourself to help these strays enjoy a more healthy lifestyle then what they have been accustomed to.
The right to be properly cared for: Dogs are people too. That's true. They can be an extention of your family as you nurture them back to health as well as allow them to be the best pet that your money can buy. Thus, showcasing their right to be properly cared for will bode well with the lifestyle you lavish out to them.
