Buying back your childhood: Tips for finding nostalgic toys on eBay

Ebay has oodles and oodles of nostalgic toys listed all the time and probably will have your childhood favorites, too. If you don't find what you are looking for this week, check back next week as it's always changing. However, you should establish some guidelines for buying on eBay before you jump right in and purchase the first item you find in your search.

Make a list of what you would like to "buy back from your childhood" and then get started. You should always determine a maximum buying price that you are willing to pay for each toy that you're seeking. Don't get too caught up in the fun and excitement of winning an auction that you bid too much and pay too much for something. The starting price is set by the Seller but the selling price is set by the number of Bidders interested in the toy. It also depends on the condition of the item. An older toy in mint condition is usually going to sell at a higher price.

It's not always quick to find what you want, but it does get easier over time as you become more experienced with eBay. Concentrate on finding one toy at a time. Use the eBay search and put in some key facts about the toy that you remember. If you know the name of the toy, that should be sufficient. Using the "Advance Search" and searching both the title and description will yield more items. Searching through eBay stores will also help you to find more items.

Once you've found listings of the toys, you'll want to search through and carefully read the descriptions and look at the pictures. Tag those that interest you by selecting the "watch this item" bar. It will save it for you in your "Watched Items" folder and you can go back and bid later, if you'd like. You should also research the Seller and their eBay reputation in order to make sure your purchase will be a good one and your transaction will be a pleasant one.

Always remember, eBay is a like a giant "Garage Sale" and most of the items are used and come from honest people just like you and me. Make sure to ask questions before buying an item. That option is listed within the item listing and is easy to find and easy to use.
