Wide belts can look extremely flattering and can instantly change an outfit from drab to fab! However they have to be worn right in order to accentuate your body.

Where to wear wide belts
This really depends on your body shape, and everyone body shape varies. Though usually if you are slim, wearing or belt around your waist will instantly add curves to your body. If you are more pear shaped, adding a belt just below your waist will help to definite your waist. If you are more top heavy, add a belt below your bust, this will create an hourglass figure.

Make sure to experiment and see where a wide belt flatters you most and also where you feel is most comfortable for you.

Dresses
If you have a dress that you want to change the way it has been cut, you can do so with a wide belt. Adding a belt will instantly create a silhouette that you want. You can do this with any type of dress, maxi dresses, cocktail dresses, day dresses etc.

Colour
Earth tones usually go with all types of colours, these are colours such as browns, rusts and greys. If you are thinking about what first wide belt to try, sticking to a basic colour, or black and you can never go wrong as it is a staple piece.

Tops
When choosing what tops to wear it with, you want to make sure you choose a fabric that glides over your body. This way it will not bunch up showing flesh.

You can wear wide belts which may different tops, if you have a lose top that you want to define you can add a wide belt. Usually you should always wear wide belts with loser tops and the belt cinches you in. If your top is too tight, it can have the opposite effect making you look frumpy.

Layers
If you like the idea of wearing wide belts but feel uncomfortable wearing them alone. You can also add layers to add another dimension. Cardigans are usually the key, wear flowy cardigans that have a waterfall type draping effect. This will glide over your body. Yet you still have a contouring effect on your body shape using the wide belt.
